Discover Raíces, a vibrant tribute to the identity, resilience, and shared heritage of the Queer Latinx community.
Raíces—a powerful photographic exhibition by acclaimed Nicaraguan-born photographer Victor Contreras. Presented in two volumes, this project celebrates the richness and diversity of Queer Latinx culture in the United States. Through striking visuals, Raíces honors the deep-rooted identities of individuals with heritage from Nicaragua, Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Mexico, the United States, El Salvador, Venezuela, and Peru.
The first volume of Raíces debuted on November 18, 2021, in recognition of National Latinx Heritage Month—a time to celebrate the profound contributions and cultural influence of the Latinx community in the U.S.
Created in collaboration with Somos LOUD—an initiative of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF)—Raíces forms part of a larger mission to address HIV in underserved communities while uplifting critical conversations within the Latinx experience.
